Big Ben Gate Mug

The design of this cup pays homage to my first trip outside the USA, to London, UK. It symbolizes what traveling abroad meant to me—moving closer to breaking through the boundaries set for me from a young age. The intricate design is inspired by the gate surrounding Big Ben, the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster, and the iconic clock tower itself at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London.

For me, clay represents the ability to be shaped into anything, embodying the limitless potential and transformation I aim to evoke through my art.

This cup was thrown on the pottery wheel, with the design carefully carved into the form. The inside is glazed black, while oxides on the exterior bring out the carved details, allowing the design to stand out and capture the essence of this significant experience.
