Westminister Cup

The design of this cup pays homage to my first trip outside the USA, to London, UK. It represents what traveling abroad meant to me—moving closer toward my goal of pushing past the boundaries that were set for me from a young age. The intricate design is inspired by the interior of Westminster Abbey, a place that not only showcases stunning architecture but also holds centuries of history within its walls.

For me, clay symbolizes the ability to be shaped into anything at all, reflecting the feeling I want to evoke through my art—the idea of limitless potential and transformation.

This cup was thrown on the pottery wheel, and the design was carefully carved into the form. It is glazed black on the inside, while the exterior features oxides that highlight the carved design, allowing it to stand out and capture the essence of this significant experience.
